Spread the love!

I don’t make these posts very often because, well, they seem selfish! But KWP is looking to expand it’s reach beyond just Springfield, MO. You see, I’m on a mission. Not a mission for money, or fame, or better business. Actually, my mission stems from my time working for Lifetouch National School Studios. Lifetouch gets a pretty bad rap among the photographic community, and yes, I was among the prejudice. But after working with them for a few months, I realized the mission statement was actually being lived out by our branch! It made me rethink everything in terms of how I wanted my business to be, and you can help in a tremendous way! Quite simply: Share. Like the facebook page. Encourage your friends to visit and like it as well. Share your favorite photos, posts, leave comments, just get active! Somewhere out there are two people in love, looking for a way to share that love with loved ones too far from them to experience it by their sides, or a student, pursuing the dream to be the first college graduate in his/her family, or a family, wanting one last photo of everyone together, before that special someone leaves this earth for eternity.

The last one hits close to home for me. My uncle John has Downs Syndrome. He’ll be 40 in September. Now, for those who don’t know, it’s rare for those with Downs to live this long. But John isn’t just defying the odds, he’s defying them by also having Diabetes. Now, this could be that moment when some of you think, “that must suck.” It doesn’t. John has been one of the biggest inspirations in my life. I love meeting children with Downs Syndrome. They are some of the most loveable people you will EVER meet! And I realize that my time with him on earth is short. Imagine being a parent of a Downs baby. It can be disheartening. But God has a plan for it, and I know my photography was meant for so much more than studios and big bucks, although that could certainly be a part of a bigger plan I haven’t yet seen. I close with the same request: share Kris Walden Photography with the ones you love. You might just impact somebody else in a grand way, by doing so.

This is my Nana. We recently had a surprise anniversary party for her and Papa Steve. During their renewal of their vows, Nana looked right at me, tears of joy filling her eyes. It’s one of those priceless moments you can’t fake, pose, or get back. Like these moments, I also loved working with the special needs students at the various schools in our territory. Most offices push time-only results. Not us, we focus on the kids, and even though it may take me 7 or 8 tries with some of the special needs students, it’s always the reaction of the teacher or parent when I capture that one image where the child is looking at the camera, smiling, that makes all the effort worth it.

  1. Chris, I just wanted to let you know how much I personally appreciate the work you did for Mark and Katie’s wedding. You captured that wonderful day in such a way that every image brings us back to the experience almost instantly. I know Mark and Katie will treasure these pictures for a lifetime. You have a passion for photography that I truly hope other families come to know as well.
